Shelley Kitchen

Shelley attended Kaitaia College from 1993-1996 and Kaitaia College won the NZ Secondary School Squash Championships two years running.

Shelley started playing competitive squash as a ten year old.  Through her junior years, Shelley won every New Zealand junior title on offer, as well as numerous Australian and Oceania titles. At age 20, Shelley turned professional, and has competed on the WISPA international circuit since. 

To date Shelley has achieved a career high world ranking of 6, and has won 15 international titles. Shelley was NZ National Champion for four consecutive years from 2005.

In 2006 Shelley won the Women's World Doubles title with partner Tamsyn Leevey and also a silver (women's doubles) and bronze medal (singles) at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Shelley is currently ranked tenth in the world.

This year Shelley has won three NSC titles in Malaysia and especially pleasingly reached the semi finals of her home event, the New Zealand Open.

At this point she and partner Anthony Ricketts announced that she was pregnant and so would not be competing for the rest of the year.
